My Motto
Live Well. Live Intentionally.
My positive, energetic and motivated approach helps my clientele resolve their problems efficiently using best practice approaches. My focus is on helping clients with anxiety, depression, stress management, life transitions, grief, marriage, and relationships. As an adjunct faculty in higher education, I learned to value research and best practices to inform my standard of care for clients. I pride myself on staying up to date, and many of my clients are surprised at the growth they experience.
I believe people have the power to author their lives in meaningful ways. My clients feel a passion to be great at something. Sometimes, though, situations arise we do not expect or are outside our control. Those circumstances or experiences can keep us from living to our fullest potential.
Inspirational author Maya Angelou said,
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
The same is true of our mindset. We do the best we can with what we have available to us at the time, but sometimes frustration, doubt, and discouragement set in. When we have more insight, more emotional intelligence, and more understanding, we can behave, think and feel differently. I am passionate about helping people achieve their dreams by learning new ways of thinking and being.
My unique approach to helping people is infused with a strong military background and competitive athletics in my youth. Studying martial arts from age 7 and continuing to train in various fighting disciplines throughout my life brings a unique emphasis on determination and perseverance to mental health. In my own life, as well as my work with clients, my charge is to never give up, and I am consistently inspired by the bravery of my clients to examine their lives more closely. I view humanity with compassion, empathy, non-judgement, and unconditional positive regard. I also use the resilience inside of both of us to persevere, even when life is hard.
I thrive when determination meets fear and doubt.
I ascribe to a humanistic foundation, approaching every person with unconditional acceptance and listening without judgement. I want my clients to feel important, heard and valued. I also incorporate a variety of techniques including CBT, Solution-Focused, Mindfulness approaches, and Positive Psychology. My approach often helps people achieve their goals, increase intimacy in their marriages, get unstuck in their careers, and grow in their personal lives.
Success is defined in many different ways. Many of my clients have been people known for their achievements. No matter how much success is gained, there is always the potential for growth – personally, professionally, spiritually, or relationally. In my life, I have succeeded at many things, but I have failed at many more. It is in our shortcomings, we have opportunities to grow.
It is my privilege to walk with others on their journey. I have been touched by every person who has trusted me to work with them, and it would be my privilege to get to know you as well.
